About this award

You can receive a $1,500.00 award. This is a bursary, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an Indigenous student pursuing a career in engineering technology. You must apply by October 31, 2026. When you apply, ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how and when you will hear back — whether by email, phone, or through the awards portal. Selection is based on a 50% weighting for your academic achievement and a 50% weighting for your financial need. There is only 1 award available per academic year, so it is quite competitive. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how they review the General Applications to choose the winner. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Saskatchewan Polytechnic whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be enrolled full-time in Year 2 of one of these three programs: the Electrical Engineering Technology program at the Moose Jaw campus, the Instrumentation Engineering Technology program at the Saskatoon campus, or the Design and Manufacturing Engineering Technology program at the Saskatoon campus. You must also be of self-declared Indigenous Ancestry, which includes Status/Treaty Indian, Non-Status Indian, Metis, or Inuit.

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

  • Open to certificate students
  • Studying Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Engineering Technology or Design and Manufacturing Engineering Technology

How to apply

  1. Read the award's official page

Check you meet every requirement, and note each document they ask for.

  2. Submit your application

Save a copy, and submit at least a day before the deadline shown above.

Tips for applying

  • Financial NeedAvoid providing vague statements about your expenses. Instead, give a clear breakdown of your monthly costs and income gaps. List your specific tuition and living costs to show why you need the funds.
  • Academic AchievementAvoid just listing your grades. Instead, highlight any specific projects or labs where you excelled in your engineering technology coursework. Mention a specific technical skill you mastered in Year 1.
  • StrategyAvoid waiting until the last minute to fill out your General Application. Instead, complete the entire profile in the Saskatchewan Polytechnic awards portal early. Since you are automatically considered, a detailed profile is your only way to stand out.
  • RealismAvoid assuming this award is guaranteed since only 1 is available per academic year. Instead, apply for several other bursaries at the same time. Diversify your applications to increase your chances of getting funding.
