About this award

You can receive a $1,000.00 award. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a second-year student in the business or tourism sectors who has a strong need for financial support. You must apply by October 31, 2026. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — email, portal, or phone. Selection is based on a weighted system: 70% of the decision is based on your financial need and 30% is based on your academic achievement. There is only 1 award available. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how they verify these details and how many people typically apply so you can judge your odds. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Saskatchewan Polytechnic whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be enrolled full-time in Year 2 of any program within the School of Business or the School of Hospitality and Tourism. A preference is given to students who have business, hospitality, or tourism experience. Additionally, preference is given to students of self-declared Indigenous ancestry, which includes Metis, Status/Treaty Indian, Non-Status Indian, and Inuit.

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

  • Open to certificate students
  • Studying Business, Hospitality or Tourism

How to apply

  1. Read the award's official page

Check you meet every requirement, and note each document they ask for.

  2. Write your essay

Be specific about what you did and what changed because of it. Proofread it twice.

  3. Submit your application

Save a copy, and submit at least a day before the deadline shown above.

Tips for applying

  • ExperienceAvoid giving a vague list of where you worked. Instead, write a detailed statement that explains exactly what you did in business, hospitality, or tourism roles. Describe one specific project or task where you helped a customer or improved a process.
  • StrategyAvoid focusing only on your grades. Since financial need is weighted at 70%, spend more time explaining your current financial situation and why this $1,000 would make a difference in your studies.
  • RealismAvoid assuming you will win because you meet the basic criteria. With only 1 award available, this is a highly limited opportunity, so apply for other bursaries at Saskatchewan Polytechnic as well.
