About this award

You can receive up to $50,000 over four years of study. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. You may receive up to $20,000 in your first year, and the award is renewable for $10,000 in your second, third, and fourth years. This is for you if you are an international student with strong academic records who has been accepted into the Rotman Commerce admission category. There is no separate deadline for this award — it comes with your admission to Rotman Commerce, and your award value is shown in your Join U of T portal. You are automatically considered for this award based on your grades at the time of admission; no separate application is needed. It is offered to selected international students on the basis of merit. Each year's award is applied to your U of T student account after your full-time enrolment is confirmed in September. To keep it, first-year students must be registered full time, complete at least 4.0 credits by the end of the Fall/Winter session and meet all GA requirements by the end of the Summer session. In years 2, 3 and 4 you must stay registered full time in a Rotman Commerce specialist, complete at least 4.0 credits by the end of each Fall/Winter session, and remain in good standing with the Faculty of Arts & Science. There is no set minimum GPA, but the award can be withdrawn for unsatisfactory academic performance. If you withdraw or drop below these course loads, you may have to repay all or part of it (students registered with Accessibility Services are an exception).

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be an international student who demonstrates academic merit and has been admitted to the Rotman Commerce admission category. You must be registered as an international student (a non-Canadian requiring a study permit); international students charged domestic fees are not eligible. You must also finish high school with high academic standing and meet the conditions of your offer of admission. It can be held with other U of T admission awards except the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship.
