About this award

You can receive $10,000 a year for up to four years, plus the full cost of your first-year rent in University of Regina residence (meal plans and tenant insurance are not included). The university puts the total value of each scholarship at over $46,000. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. Recipients also get an academic mentor (normally a faculty member from their program), leadership programming for the scholarship cohort, and invitations to university events. This is for you if you are a high-achieving domestic student (a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person) entering the University of Regina directly from high school. Applications open in October 2026 and close December 15, 2026. By December 15 you must also have applied for admission for the following Fall term and given your transcript to the admissions office. Up to 14 scholarships are given each year, chosen by the External Student Awards Adjudication Committee. Six are reserved for specific applicants: one for an Indigenous applicant, one for an out-of-province applicant, one for an applicant from a First Nations school, and three for applicants from high schools in named Saskatchewan school divisions (Chinook; Christ the Teacher Roman Catholic, Horizon or Good Spirit; and Prince Albert Roman Catholic or Saskatchewan Rivers). If no qualified applicant comes from one of these groups, that award goes to the general pool. Recipients must take part in Chancellor's Scholarship programming and recruitment activities and agree to be featured in University of Regina promotional campaigns. To renew the scholarship for each of the next three years, you need a sessional GPA of at least 80% over the prior academic year (May 1 to April 30) and at least 18 credit hours in that period (12 credit hours if you have a permanent disability).

Who qualifies

You must be a domestic student: a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person. You need a minimum admission average of 95% if you are a Saskatchewan student, or 90% if you are from outside Saskatchewan, for an undergraduate degree program. You must be entering directly from high school, or be a high school graduate who has not completed any post-secondary courses; courses you took while still in high school, such as the High School Accelerated Program, do not affect your eligibility. You must be attending the University of Regina for the first time in the upcoming Fall term.
