What you will need

About this award

You can win one of two $1,500 scholarships. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a person living with epilepsy who has overcome barriers and continues to show resilience. The 2026 deadline was Monday, May 18, 2026, and that round is closed. Epilepsy Toronto has given this scholarship most years since 2018, so check the official page for the next round's date. In 2026, winners were announced at the Purple Walk for Epilepsy Toronto on June 20 at College Park. A committee reviews every application. You must show your determination to overcome challenges related to epilepsy; academic strength, community involvement, educational goals, communication skills and epilepsy advocacy are also considered. Ask Epilepsy Toronto during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be a person living with epilepsy and aged 17 or older. You must be a Canadian citizen, a Protected Person (someone with refugee or protected-person status in Canada), or a Permanent Resident of Canada. You must also be a resident of Toronto, be planning to attend school in Toronto, or be a member of Epilepsy Toronto. You must be enrolled in or accepted for full-time or part-time post-secondary studies in a college, university, accredited profession or apprenticeship training institution. If you are a part-time student, you must be completing at least one course each semester. You cannot be related to any member of Epilepsy Toronto's Board of Directors or staff. One award is reserved for a student in their last year of high school, while the second award is open to any student who meets all these criteria.
