About this award

You can receive a $500.00 award. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you have a track record of stepping up as a leader, volunteering in your community, or starting your own business projects while maintaining your grades. You must apply by February 12, 2027. When you apply, ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through the portal. NAIT's official page says how this award is decided (see Who qualifies). Ask NAIT how many students usually qualify, so you can judge your odds. Ask NAIT during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with NAIT whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be enrolled in the Veterinary Technology program at NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology). To qualify, you need to show satisfactory academic achievement and evidence of leadership, community involvement, volunteerism, or entrepreneurial activities.

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

• Community LeadershipAvoid just listing the organizations where you volunteered. Instead, describe one specific time your leadership or initiative made a difference for others. Write about the actual impact you had.
• StrategyAvoid ignoring the General Application. Since you are automatically considered based on that form, spend extra time ensuring every section of your profile is complete and detailed.
• RealismAvoid assuming that high grades alone will win this award. Instead, focus heavily on your extracurricular contributions, as this award specifically targets leadership and community spirit.
