About this award

You can receive a $1,500.00 grant, which is not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. There are two separate versions of this award available, with two awards available for each version. This is for you if you have self-declared Indigenous ancestry and are pursuing a diploma in business information systems or computer systems technology. You must apply by October 31, 2026. When you apply, ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how and when you will hear back — whether by email, the student portal, or phone. Selection is based on a weighted formula: 75% of the decision is based on your financial need and 25% is based on your academic achievement. Since the specific number of applicants isn't published, ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how many people typically apply so you can judge your odds. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Saskatchewan Polytechnic whether it's a one-time payment or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must have self-declared Indigenous ancestry and be enrolled full-time at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Depending on which version you apply for, you must meet one of these two sets of criteria: 1. You are in Year 1 of the Business Information Systems Diploma program at the Moose Jaw campus. 2. You are in Year 2, Semester 3 of the Computer Systems Technology Diploma program at the Saskatoon campus.

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.
