About this award

You can receive a $2,500.00 award. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an apprentice who spends your time giving back to others through volunteer work and community involvement. You must apply by June 7, 2027. When you apply, ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, the portal, or phone. NAIT's official page says how this award is decided (see Who qualifies). Ask NAIT how many students usually qualify, so you can judge your odds. Ask NAIT during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with NAIT whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be enrolled in the Carpenter, Electrician, or Plumber Apprenticeship programs. You will only be considered for the intake you attend NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology). To qualify, you need satisfactory academic standing and a record of volunteer work or community involvement.

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

Tips for applying

• Community InvolvementAvoid just listing the names of organizations where you volunteered. Instead, describe the specific impact your work had on the community. List the total hours you contributed to each project.
• StrategyAvoid leaving your General Application incomplete. Since you are automatically considered based on that form, double-check that every section is filled out accurately before you submit it.
• RealismAvoid assuming that academic grades are the only factor. Because this award focuses heavily on community involvement, spend as much time detailing your volunteer efforts as you do your school performance.
