About this award

You can receive a $500.00 bursary. As a bursary, this money is yours to keep — there is nothing to repay. This is for you if you are a trades student in your first or second period of study who needs financial support to stay in school. You must apply by June 7, 2027. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — email, portal, or phone. Selection is based on your demonstrated financial need and satisfactory academic achievement. There are six awards available for each intake, and there are five intakes annually. Ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) how they verify financial need and how many students typically apply so you can judge your odds. Ask NAIT during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Who qualifies

You must be a first or second period student in one of the following apprenticeship programs at NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology): Carpenter, Ironworker, Insulator, Millwright, Plumber, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic, Roofer, Sheet Metal Worker, Steamfitter-Pipefitter, or Welder. You must show financial need and have satisfactory academic achievement.
