About this award

You get $4,000 for this scholarship. As a scholarship, this money is yours to keep — there is nothing to repay. The University of Ottawa awards a variable number of these $4,000 scholarships to top students. This is for you if you are a high-achieving student starting your university journey in the social sciences. There is no application and no deadline: all eligible students are automatically evaluated for this award. Ask the University of Ottawa how and when you will hear back. Selection is automatic. You do not need to apply; the University of Ottawa evaluates all eligible students based on their admission averages. Ask University of Ottawa during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with University of Ottawa whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be enrolled full time for the first time in an undergraduate program at the Faculty of Social Sciences. You need a minimum admission average of 92%. You must also meet the admission requirements of your specific program. You must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or have refugee or protected-person status in Canada. Mature applicants and university transfers are not eligible for some University of Ottawa admission scholarships, so check with the university if that applies to you.
