About this award

You can receive a $1,500.00 award. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an apprentice in the Electrician, Plumber, or Carpenter programs who has maintained excellent grades in your studies. You must apply by June 7, 2027. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — email, portal, or phone. NAIT's official page says how this award is decided (see Who qualifies). Ask NAIT how many students usually qualify, so you can judge your odds. Ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with NAIT whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be enrolled in the Electrician, Plumber, or Carpenter apprenticeship programs. Selection is based on excellent academic achievement, and a preference is given to Indigenous students.

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

  • Open to trades students
  • Studying Electrician, Plumber or Carpenter

Check you meet every requirement, and note each document they ask for.

Save a copy, and submit at least a day before the deadline shown above.

Tips for applying

  • Academic AchievementAvoid just listing your grades. Instead, highlight a specific project or module where your high performance showed your skill in the trade. Mention a specific technical challenge you solved.
  • StrategyAvoid skipping the General Application. Since you are automatically considered for some awards through that process, ensure every section of your profile is complete before you apply for this specific scholarship.
  • RealismAvoid assuming the preference for Indigenous students guarantees the award. Because it is also based on academic achievement, focus your application on proving your classroom and shop success.
