About this award

You get $1,500. This is a grant, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an Indigenous student pursuing a trade in instrumentation or power systems. You must apply by June 7, 2027. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — email, portal, or phone. Selection is based on your written statement about your personal journey and your academic achievement in your most recent term. Ask NAIT how many students usually apply, so you can judge your odds. Ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with NAIT whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be an Indigenous student enrolled in one of these three apprenticeship programs at NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology): Instrumentation and Control Technician, Power System Electrician, or Power Line Technician. You also need to show satisfactory academic achievement in your most recent term.

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.
