About this award

You can receive a total of $3,000, which is paid in 2 instalments of $1,500 each. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a Canadian citizen entering your first or second year of study who can show financial need and a strong sense of effort. You must apply by October 31, 2026. When you apply, ask Olds College of Agriculture & Technology how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through a student portal. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Olds College of Agriculture & Technology how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. There are 12 awards total: 7 awards go to 1st-year students and 5 awards go to 2nd-year students. Ask Olds College of Agriculture & Technology during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. To keep the full amount, you must achieve a 2.0 GPA (Grade Point Average — the average of all your final grades) in the fall term to receive the 2nd instalment. If you are counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Olds College of Agriculture & Technology whether you can apply again.

Tips for applying

  • Financial NeedAvoid simply stating that you need money. Instead, provide specific examples of your financial situation and how this $3,000 will help you stay in school. List your monthly expenses and any gaps in your funding.
