About this award

You can receive $7,034.60. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a full-time student in the second year of the Agriculture and Heavy Equipment Diploma at Olds College who is actively involved in your community. You must apply by October 31, 2026. When you apply, ask Olds College of Agriculture & Technology how and when you will hear back — whether by email, phone, or a student portal. Instructional staff nominate you for this award in cooperation with senior management at RME (Rocky Mountain Equipment — a heavy equipment dealership). Selection criteria aren't published, so ask Olds College of Agriculture & Technology how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask Olds College of Agriculture & Technology during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, while others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you are counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Olds College of Agriculture & Technology whether it is a one-time award or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Tips for applying

Personal StatementAvoid writing a generic essay about farming. Instead, focus on why investing in the agriculture industry is important and share a specific story about how you helped your local agricultural community. Write a narrative that shows your impact rather than just listing your activities.
SupportAvoid relying solely on your grades to get noticed. Instead, connect with your instructional staff since they are the ones who nominate you for this award. Schedule a meeting with your instructors to discuss your community involvement.
RealismAvoid assuming the award is guaranteed based on your GPA. Instead, remember that only up to 1 student receives this funding. Focus on demonstrating your unique community leadership to stand out from other high-achieving students.
