About this award

You can receive a one-time $10,000 CAD scholarship. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a young woman in Canada who has led efforts to make STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) more inclusive and diverse through your work in robotics. You must submit your application by January 31, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. The FIRST Canada Scholarship Committee will contact the winner directly and announce the result in 2026. The FIRST Canada Scholarship Committee selects the winner based on your leadership and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Only one scholarship is awarded each year. To get the money, you must provide a formal request letter and confirmation of your degree program and institution. FIRST Robotics Canada will then issue the payment directly to your school. You must submit these details by the end of the second week of classes in your first funded term. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with FIRST Robotics Canada whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must identify as a young woman and be a current or recent Canadian high school student. You must have participated on a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC — a high school robotics competition) or FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC — a middle and high school robotics competition) team in Canada during the 2024 or 2025 seasons. You must also plan to attend a post-secondary program in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) related field, such as engineering, computer science, technology, math, or a closely linked discipline. Finally, you need to show a strong record of leadership and a clear commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in STEM both on and off your FIRST team.
