About this award

You can receive a $1,000.00 award. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you identify as Indigenous and are pursuing a career in business or entrepreneurship. You must apply by October 31, 2026. When you apply, ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how and when you will hear back — whether it is through email, the portal, or by phone. Selection is based on a 50% weighting for your academic achievement and a 50% weighting for your financial need. There is only 1 award available per academic year, so it is quite competitive. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how they review the applications to choose the winner. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Saskatchewan Polytechnic whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be enrolled full-time in any program within the School of Business and Entrepreneurship at the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Saskatoon campus. You must also be of self-declared Indigenous Ancestry, which includes Status First Nation, non-status First Nation, Metis, or Inuit.

Tips for applying

  • Financial NeedAvoid providing vague statements about needing money. Instead, give specific examples of your current costs and gaps in your funding. List your monthly expenses clearly.
  • StrategyAvoid waiting until the last minute to fill out the general form. Instead, complete your General Application early since you are automatically considered for this award based on that form. Double-check that your Indigenous ancestry is correctly self-declared.
  • RealismAvoid assuming this is a guaranteed fund since only 1 award is given per year. Instead, apply for several different bursaries at the same time to increase your chances. Check the awards portal for other matching options.
