About this award

You get $10,000 in total, paid as $2,500 per year for four years. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a francophone student moving from another Canadian province or territory to study business in French. No deadline is posted publicly — before you start the application, check University of Ottawa's program page or call their office to confirm when applications open and close this year. The scholarships go to the applicants with the highest admission average among applicants to the program. Ask the University of Ottawa how many are given each year so you can judge your odds. Ask University of Ottawa during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. To keep this scholarship for all four years, you must remain a full-time student at the Telfer School of Management, take at least 9 units in French per term, and maintain a cumulative grade point average (CGPA — the average of all your grades across all terms) of 7.00 or higher at the end of each academic year.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee or protected-person status in Canada. You must be enrolling full time for the first time in a university undergraduate program and be enrolled in the French Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) program. You must be a resident of a province or territory in Canada other than Ontario and have completed your high school, CEGEP (a general and professional education college in Quebec), or equivalent education in French. Additionally, you must be enrolled in at least 3 courses (9 units) per term taught in French and have the highest admission average among all applicants to the program. Note that mature applicants and university transfers are not eligible for certain admission scholarships, so check with the University of Ottawa if either applies to you.
