About this award

You can receive approximately $2,500. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a high-achieving graduate student who balances a rigorous Master of Science program with a strong commitment to athletics and leadership. You must apply by November 2, 2026. When you apply, ask University of Saskatchewan how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, the portal, or phone. Ask University of Saskatchewan how many students usually apply, so you can judge your odds. Ask University of Saskatchewan during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with University of Saskatchewan whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be a full-time registered graduate student in your first or second year of study in a Master’s Thesis degree program. This award is restricted to students in a Master of Science in Physics and Engineering Physics, Mathematics and Statistics, or Biology. To qualify, you need an 85% GPA or above and must demonstrate athletic ability in Huskie-level athletics (the varsity sports teams at University of Saskatchewan).

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

Tips for applying

  • Athletic AbilityAvoid just listing the sports you play. Instead, describe specific examples of your leadership and athletic achievements in Huskie-level athletics. Write a detailed statement that shows how you lead others on and off the field.
  • ReferencesAvoid providing a reference who only knows you academically. Instead, choose a referee who can personally vouch for your athletic skill and leadership. Provide their full name and a professional email address.
  • StrategyAvoid focusing only on your grades. Instead, balance your application by giving equal weight to your 85% GPA and your contributions to campus athletics. Ensure your statement connects your discipline in sports to your success in your Master of Science studies.
  • RealismAvoid assuming your GPA alone will win the award. Instead, remember that this scholarship specifically targets the intersection of academics and varsity-level athletics. If you do not participate in Huskie-level sports, your chances of winning are very low.
