About this award

You can receive a $5,000 scholarship. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. The University of Saskatchewan recognizes 600 high-achieving entering students each year with this award. This is for you if you are a high-achieving student entering a direct-entry degree program based on your admission average. You must submit your online application for admission and pay the application fee by December 1. Your transcripts and other admission documents must reach the Admissions Office by December 15. You will hear back via email to both your personal and University of Saskatchewan addresses starting in late April. Winners are chosen automatically based on admission averages for students in the Colleges of Agriculture and Bioresources, Arts and Science, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Kinesiology and the Edwards School of Business. Selection criteria aren't published beyond the admission average — ask University of Saskatchewan how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. The money is applied directly to your student account to pay for tuition and fees by mid-September. This ensures the funds go toward your education costs immediately. To keep the money, you must be enrolled in a minimum of 18 credit units during the Fall and Winter Terms (September to April). You must also arrange for your final, official high school transcript to be sent directly to University of Saskatchewan.

Who qualifies

You are eligible for automatic consideration if you meet one of these two profiles: you are a current high school student planning to attend University of Saskatchewan after you graduate, or you have already graduated from high school but have little or no previous post-secondary education (defined as having less than 18 transferable credit units). You must be entering a direct-entry degree program in one of the following areas: the Colleges of Agriculture and Bioresources, Arts and Science, Dentistry, Education, Engineering, Kinesiology, or the Edwards School of Business.
