About this award

You can receive a $3,000.00 award. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you have self-declared Indigenous ancestry, including Metis, Status/Treaty Indian, Non-status Indian, or Inuit identity. You must apply by October 31, 2026. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — email, portal, or phone. Selection is based on a 50% weighting for academic achievement and a 50% weighting for financial need. Only one award is available per academic year, so ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Saskatchewan Polytechnic whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be enrolled full-time in any program at any Saskatchewan Polytechnic campus. You must also be of self-declared Indigenous ancestry, which includes Metis, Status/Treaty Indian, Non-status Indian, and Inuit.

Tips for applying

• Financial NeedAvoid providing vague statements about your expenses. Instead, give a clear breakdown of your specific costs and gaps in funding. List your monthly rent and tuition balance to show exactly why you need the money.
• StrategyAvoid leaving your General Application incomplete. Instead, ensure every section of the Saskatchewan Polytechnic awards portal is finished. Since you are automatically considered based on that form, a missing detail could disqualify you.
• RealismAvoid assuming this is a guaranteed fund. Instead, remember that only one award is given per academic year. Focus on highlighting both your grades and your financial situation since they are weighted equally.
