About this award

You can earn up to $42,500 CAD over four years through various international entrance scholarships. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. Specifically, the President's International Entrance Scholarships are awarded automatically based on your admission average: those with 95.0%+ get $20,000 in Year 1 and $7,500 in Years 2-4 ($42,500 total); 90.0-94.9% get $16,000 in Year 1 and $7,500 in Years 2-4 ($38,500 total); 85.0-89.9% get $13,000 in Year 1 and $7,500 in Years 2-4 ($35,500 total); and 70.0-84.9% get $10,000 in Year 1 and $7,500 in Years 2-4 ($32,500 total). Other options include the Dr. Franco J. Vaccarino President’s Scholarship offering $42,500 CAD for 2 top students, a one-time $10,000 CAD International Transfer Scholarship, the Quinn Memorial Scholarship at $2,000 CAD, the Hardy International Student Scholarship at $2,000 CAD, and the Fatemeh Haghighi International Scholarship at $1,000 CAD. This is for you if you are an international fee-paying student moving to Canada for your undergraduate studies and have a strong academic record. For the Dr. Franco J. Vaccarino President’s Scholarship, you must apply by March 8, 2027. For all other listed awards, no separate application is required as you are assessed during admission. Eligible students are told about the President's International Entrance Scholarship in their offer of admission. Most of these awards are decided automatically based on your admission application package and academic performance. For the Dr. Franco J. Vaccarino award, they look for academic excellence and significant contributions to your school and community. The smaller named awards are chosen from your admission application package: the Quinn Memorial Scholarship also weighs academic performance and letters of reference, the Fatemeh Haghighi International Scholarship weighs academic performance, and the Hardy International Student Scholarship gives preference to students from Haiti, then Africa. Ask University of Guelph during your application how the money will reach you—some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. To keep the President's International Entrance Scholarship, you must remain registered in full-time studies and achieve a minimum 80.0% average in your previous academic year of full-time study. If you lose a payment, you can re-qualify by getting an 80.0% or better average in the following year, but payments already lost cannot be added to the end of the award period.

Who qualifies

You must be an international fee-paying student admitted to an undergraduate degree program at University of Guelph. For the President's International Entrance Scholarships you need an admission average of at least 70.0% (Canadian grading scale or equivalent). For the International Transfer Scholarship, you must be a transfer student admitted for Winter 2027 or Fall 2027. For the Hardy International Student Scholarship, a preference is given in this order: students from Haiti, then students from Africa, and then any other international student.
