You can receive an annual $3,000 scholarship to support your business education. Additionally, a second $1,500 scholarship was established in 2025 to provide financial assistance to students in need. As these are scholarships, not loans, you do not have to pay this money back. This is for you if you are a child, grandchild, niece, or nephew of a family business owner in Nova Scotia or a member of Family Business Atlantic (an organization supporting family-run companies). You must submit your application by March 31 at 5pm. No notification timeline is posted publicly — when you apply, ask Family Business Atlantic how and when you will hear back via email, portal, or phone. The Scholarship Committee reviews all applications to choose the winners. Selection criteria aren't published — ask Family Business Atlantic how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. The money is sent directly to the post-secondary educational institution you attend. Confirm with Family Business Atlantic during your application if the funds are applied to your tuition or issued as a bursary for your living costs. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you are counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Family Business Atlantic whether it is a one-time award or renewable and what you need to maintain.
You must be a resident of Nova Scotia, though you can attend a school outside the province. This award is for students taking their first post-secondary educational pursuit who have achieved a grade point average of 80%. Your degree must have a business focus or be related to a family business. You must be applying for the first time, as only one submission per applicant is permitted. A preference is given to those who have a family business background, an interest in becoming involved in their family business, or are pursuing their own business interests.
This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

Applications close on March 31, 2027. Submit a day or two early: application sites get busy at the end.
