What you will need

• ✓ Complete the General Entrance Award application via the application portal by February 15, 2027

About this award

You can receive between $5,000 and $20,000 in total. This is broken down as $1,500 to $5,000 per year, which is renewable for 4 years. As a bursary, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are living with a permanent disability and have demonstrated financial need. You must apply by February 15, 2027. If you receive an award, Dalhousie will notify you in the spring. Beyond a permanent disability and financial need, selection criteria aren't published — ask Dalhousie how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants it typically receives so you can judge your odds. The money is applied directly to your student account in two equal instalments: once in mid-August and again in mid-December. To receive the money, you must be registered full-time. This means a minimum of 9 credit hours per term for degree students or 6 credit hours per term for technology students. Since renewal conditions aren't fully listed, confirm with Dalhousie what you need to maintain each year.

Who qualifies

You are eligible if you have a permanent disability and financial need. You must be applying to start your studies in the Fall term. You can apply if you are applying directly from high school, or if you are a mature student with no transferable post-secondary study. Academically, you typically need an 80% average or 26 predicted or anticipated IB (International Baccalaureate — a global standardized curriculum) points.
