You can receive a $1,250.00 grant. As a grant, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you belong to a historically marginalized or excluded community and are pursuing a trade in refrigeration, air conditioning, or gasfitting. You must apply by June 7, 2027. When you apply, ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) how and when you will hear back — whether it is through email, the portal, or a phone call. Winners are chosen based on a written statement about your personal journey to post-secondary and your academic achievement in your most recent term. Selection criteria aren't published — ask NAIT how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask NAIT during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with NAIT whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.
You must be enrolled in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic or Gasfitter Apprenticeship programs at NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology). This award is for students from historically marginalized and excluded communities, including Aboriginal students, Women and/or gender minorities in male-dominated programs, 2SLGBTQIA+ students, students with a prolonged or persistent disability, single-parents or children of single-parents, and visible minorities or racialized people. A preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.
