New Brunswick Paramedic Education Bursary

What you will need

About this award

This is a non-taxable grant, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. The award covers your eligible tuition costs, split into two payments. You receive the first 50% of your eligible tuition costs upon graduation and signing your contract. You receive the remaining 50% of eligible costs after you complete your required service period with Ambulance New Brunswick (ANB — the provincial emergency medical service). This is for you if you are training to become a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP), an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP), or an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and intend to work for the provincial ambulance service. There is no application form and no deadline to meet. Your application is automatically processed once you successfully graduate from an approved program and sign an employment contract with ANB (Ambulance New Brunswick). To receive it you must complete your program, get your licence from the Paramedics Association of New Brunswick and sign the return-of-service agreement. The province says it will keep reviewing the need for the program based on ANB vacancies and program uptake. The money is issued directly to you by Ambulance New Brunswick in the form of a non-taxable grant. The first half comes at graduation, and the second half comes after you finish your service commitment. To keep the full amount, you must fulfill a "Pay-to-Stay" return-of-service agreement. For PCP (Primary Care Paramedic) and ACP (Advanced Care Paramedic) graduates, you must provide two years of full-time service to Ambulance New Brunswick. For EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) graduates, you must provide one year of full-time service.

Who qualifies

You may qualify if you began your studies or graduated from a recognized and approved training program on or after June 11, 2025. You must be studying to become a PCP (Primary Care Paramedic) or EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) at one of the approved institutions in New Brunswick (Collège Communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick, Medavie Health Ed, Omni Life Support or Oulton College), or an ACP (Advanced Care Paramedic) at Holland College or Medavie Health Ed. Additionally, you must successfully complete your program, receive a license from the Paramedics Association of New Brunswick, and sign a "Pay-to-Stay" return-of-service agreement with Ambulance New Brunswick.
