About this award

You can receive a $1,500.00 grant for your studies. As a grant, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an apprentice in the Machinist Apprenticeship program and identify as part of a historically marginalized or excluded community. This includes Aboriginal students, women or gender minorities in male-dominated programs, 2SLGBTQIA+ students, people with a prolonged or persistent disability, single-parents or children of single-parents, and visible minorities or racialized people. You must apply by June 7, 2027. When you apply, ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) how and when you will hear back about your application status. Winners are chosen based on a written statement about your personal journey to post-secondary and your academic achievement in your most recent term. Selection criteria aren't published — ask NAIT how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask NAIT during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with NAIT whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.
