About this award

You can receive a $2,500.00 bursary. As a bursary, this money is yours to keep — there is nothing to repay. This is for you if you are an Indigenous student who identifies as Status, Non-Status, Metis, or Inuit. You must apply by October 31, 2026. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — email, portal, or phone. Selection is based on a weighted formula: 70% of the decision is based on your financial need and 30% is based on your academic achievement. There are 4 awards available per academic year. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how they calculate these weights and how many people typically apply so you can judge your odds. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Saskatchewan Polytechnic whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be an Indigenous student (which includes Status, Non-Status, Metis, and Inuit ancestry) enrolled in any full-time program at any Saskatchewan Polytechnic campus.

Tips for applying

  • Financial NeedAvoid providing vague descriptions of your situation. Instead, use specific numbers to show exactly how the $2,500 would help you cover your costs. List your monthly expenses and income clearly.
  • StrategyAvoid leaving the General Application incomplete. Since you are automatically considered for this bursary based on that form, ensure every section is filled out thoroughly before the October 31 deadline.
  • RealismAvoid assuming the award is guaranteed because you meet the basic criteria. With only 4 awards available per year, focus your energy on demonstrating both your financial need and your academic success.
