About this award

You can receive a $2,500.00 award. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an Indigenous student pursuing a technical or business credential at a Saskatchewan Polytechnic campus. You must apply by October 31, 2026. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — email, portal, or phone. Three awards are available in total, with a maximum of 1 award per program. Selection is based on a 50% weighting for your academic achievement and a 50% weighting for your financial need. Since the specific review process isn't published, ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic how winners are chosen and roughly how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask Saskatchewan Polytechnic during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with Saskatchewan Polytechnic whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be enrolled full-time in an eligible program at any Saskatchewan Polytechnic campus. You must be of Indigenous ancestry, which includes Status-Treaty Indian, Non-Status Indian, Metis, and Inuit. Eligible programs are: Building Systems Technician, Business Diploma, Business Human Resources, Business Information Systems, Computer Systems Technology, Culinary Arts, Leisure and Tourism Management Post-Grad, Hospitality Management, Recreation and Tourism Management, or Security Officer.

  • StrategyAvoid treating the general application as a formality. Instead, treat every field in the portal as an opportunity to show your financial need and academic success. Double-check that your profile is 100% complete.
  • RealismAvoid assuming you will win just by applying. Instead, remember there are only 3 awards available and only one per program. Apply for other bursaries at the same time to increase your chances.
