About this award

You can receive a $500.00 bursary. As a bursary, this money is yours to keep — there is nothing to repay. This is for you if you are starting your journey as an electrician and need financial support to get through your first term of training. You must apply by June 7, 2027. When you apply, ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through the portal. NAIT's official page says how this award is decided (see Who qualifies). Ask NAIT how many students usually qualify, so you can judge your odds. Ask NAIT during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with NAIT whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be a first period student entering into an Electrician apprenticeship program. To qualify, you need to show demonstrated financial need and have satisfactory academic achievement to enter the program. Please note that preference will be given to a woman identifying student. You will only be considered for awards in the intake you attend NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology).

  • StrategyAvoid waiting until the last minute to fill out the General Application. Instead, complete the General Application early since you are automatically considered for this award based on that form. Double-check that all sections are finished.
  • RealismAvoid assuming this award is guaranteed just because you are in the program. Instead, treat this as a helpful top-up and continue looking for other grants. Check the NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) portal for similar opportunities.
