About this award

You can receive a $1,500.00 grant. As a grant, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you belong to a historically marginalized or excluded community and are pursuing a career in technology, engineering, or design. You must apply by February 12, 2027. When you apply, ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through the awards portal. Winners are chosen based on a written statement about your personal journey to post-secondary and your academic achievement in your most recent term. Selection criteria aren't published — ask NAIT how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask NAIT during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with NAIT whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be enrolled in one of the following programs at NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology): Alternative Energy Technology, Chemical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Engineering Design Technology, Geoscience Technology, Instrumentation Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Petroleum Engineering Technology, Power Engineering Technology, Surveying and Geospatial Engineering Technology, Water and Wastewater Technician, Architectural Technology, Interior Design Technology, or Landscape Architectural Technology. You must also be from one of these historically marginalized and excluded communities: Aboriginal students, Women and or/gender minorities in male-dominated programs, 2SLGBTQIA+ (Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and others) students, students with a prolonged or persistent disability, single parents or children of single-parents, or visible minorities and racialized people. A preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.
