About this award

You get $2,500. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a second-year student in the Surveying and Geospatial Engineering Technology program who earned excellent grades during your first year. You must apply by February 12, 2027. When you apply, ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) how and when you'll hear back — email, portal, or phone. NAIT's official page says how this award is decided (see Who qualifies). Ask NAIT how many students usually qualify, so you can judge your odds. Ask NAIT during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with NAIT whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be a second-year student enrolled in the Surveying and Geospatial Engineering Technology program. You need to have demonstrated excellent academic achievement in the first year of the program. A preference will be given to students with volunteer/community involvement. As an added benefit, if you win, you may be considered for full-time employment upon graduation.

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

How to apply

  1. Read the award's official page

Check you meet every requirement, and note each document they ask for.

  2. Submit your application

Save a copy, and submit at least a day before the deadline shown above.

Tips for applying

  • Community InvolvementAvoid just listing the organizations where you volunteered. Instead, describe the specific impact you made while helping others. Mention one concrete project you led or supported.
  • SupportAvoid providing references who only know you socially. Instead, use a professor from your first year who can vouch for your academic achievement. Ask them to highlight your growth in the program.
  • StrategyAvoid leaving your General Application incomplete. Instead, ensure every section is finished, as you are automatically considered for this award based on that completed form.
  • RealismAvoid assuming the preference for volunteering guarantees a win. Instead, focus on showcasing both your high grades and your community work to balance your profile.
