Sureway Construction Group Ltd. Welding Apprenticeship - BILD Alberta Scholarships for Construction Careers

What you will need

• ✓ Completed NAIT General Application
• ✓ Submission of a specific application for this award via the NAIT awards portal

About this award

You can receive a $2,500.00 scholarship. This is a grant, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a dedicated apprentice welder who has balanced your technical training with a commitment to helping your community through volunteering. You must apply by June 7, 2027. When you apply, ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) how and when you will hear back — whether it is through email, a phone call, or the student portal. Winners are chosen based on excellent academic achievement. Selection criteria aren't published in detail, so ask NAIT how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask NAIT during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you are counting on this for multiple years, confirm with NAIT whether it is a one-time award or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be a third-period student currently enrolled in the Welder Apprenticeship program. You will only be considered for the intake you attend NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology). While the award is based on academic achievement, a preference will be given to students with volunteer or community involvement.

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

Tips for applying

• Community InvolvementAvoid just listing the names of organizations where you volunteered. Instead, describe the specific impact your work had on others. Mention one concrete project where your help made a difference.
• StrategyAvoid ignoring the General Application. Since you are automatically considered based on that form, spend extra time ensuring every section of your general profile is complete and professional.
• RealismAvoid assuming that high grades alone guarantee the award. Because there is a preference for community involvement, make sure you highlight your volunteer work to stand out from other high-achieving students.
