About this award

You can receive a $3,000.00 grant. As a grant, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a Ukrainian citizen who has shown leadership, volunteerism, or entrepreneurial spirit within the Ukrainian community. You must apply by February 12, 2027. When you apply, ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) how and when you will hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through the portal. NAIT's official page says how this award is decided (see Who qualifies). Ask NAIT how many students usually qualify, so you can judge your odds. Ask NAIT during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with NAIT whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must hold Ukrainian citizenship and be studying in Canada on a valid Study Permit from Ukraine. You must be registered full-time in any degree, diploma, or certificate program. Selection is based on your satisfactory academic achievement and your demonstrated leadership, community involvement, volunteerism, or entrepreneurial activities within the Ukrainian community.

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

Tips for applying

• Community InvolvementAvoid just listing the organizations you joined. Instead, describe a specific time your leadership or volunteer work helped the Ukrainian community. Give a concrete example of a project you led.
• StrategyAvoid leaving your General Application incomplete. Since you are automatically considered based on that form, spend extra time detailing your community contributions in every available text box.
• RealismAvoid assuming that a Study Permit alone guarantees the award. Instead, focus your application on proving your active role in the community, as this is a primary basis for the award.
