About this award

You receive $1,000 if your admission average is between 85% and 89.9%. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a high-achieving student starting your first year of university in a direct-entry faculty or the Faculty of Law, Civil Law Section. There is no application and no deadline — every eligible student is considered automatically after being admitted. You are automatically considered for this award based on your grades, so there is no separate application to fill out. It goes to all eligible students, so there is no competition for a fixed number of awards. Ask University of Ottawa during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with University of Ottawa whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

To qualify, you must be enrolled full time for the first time in a university undergraduate program and be studying in a direct-entry faculty or in the Faculty of Law, Civil Law Section. You must have an admission average of 85-89.9%. You must also be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or have protected person or refugee status in Canada. Please note that mature applicants and university transfers are not eligible for this scholarship.
