This funding is for you if you are a prospective or current JD (Juris Doctor — a professional law degree) student, including those from Black, Indigenous, or racialized communities who want to combat racism through law. Deadlines depend on the award. Admission award applications, including the Scotiabank Program for Law Students Scholarship, usually open March 1 and close May 1, and you don't have to accept your offer of admission before applying. Offers of automatic admission scholarships go out on a rolling basis from February 1 to July 1. For general awards, Fall applications usually open August 1 and close October 31, while Winter applications usually open January 1 and close February 28. You will receive an email from the Financial Aid and Awards Service if you are selected. Some awards are automatic based on merit and academic performance, while others require an application through the uoZone (the University of Ottawa's internal student portal) system.
