About this award
You can win $3,000.00 for this award. As a prize, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are competing in the Varshney Cup Competition and can secure a victory. The deadline is February 12, 2027. Since you are automatically considered based on your General Application, ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) how and when you will be notified if your team wins. Winners are chosen based on a first-place finish. Judges use a rubric that NAIT provides to the students to determine the winner. Ask NAIT during the competition how the money will reach you. The funding is split equally among all members of the winning team. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with NAIT whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Tips for applying
- SupportAvoid working in isolation. Instead, coordinate closely with your teammates to ensure every part of the project meets the rubric standards. Set a weekly meeting to review your progress with the judging goals.
- StrategyAvoid leaving your General Application incomplete. Instead, ensure your profile in the NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) awards portal is fully updated. This ensures you are automatically considered for the prize.
- RealismAvoid assuming this is a guaranteed source of funding. Instead, remember that only the first-place team wins the $3,000.00. Plan your budget based on other confirmed funding sources first.
