About this award

You can receive a $2,500.00 grant. As a grant, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are an Indigenous student pursuing technical training in forestry, electrical, safety, instrumentation, power engineering, or heavy equipment. You must apply by February 12, 2027. When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back — email, portal, or phone. Winners are chosen based on a written statement about your personal journey to post-secondary and your academic achievement in your most recent term. Selection criteria aren't published — ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) how many applicants they typically receive so you can judge your odds. Ask NAIT during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with NAIT whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be an Indigenous student enrolled in one of the following programs: Forest Technology, Electrical Installations Technology, Occupational Health and Safety, Instrumentation Engineering Technology, Power Engineering Technology, or Industrial Heavy Equipment Technology. You need to show satisfactory academic achievement in your most recent term. A preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.
