What you will need

About this award

You can receive one of 250 scholarships valued at $8,000 each. This consists of $6,000 for your first year, plus $2,000 reserved for an optional study abroad experience. As a scholarship, this money is yours to keep and does not have to be paid back. This is for you if you are an incoming high school student with a top admission average who is starting an undergraduate program at the main campus. If you are from Ontario, you will receive a notification email in mid-late May before your admission response deadline. For students outside of Ontario, Western will consider you for this scholarship if you submit your application through the OUAC (the Ontario Universities' Application Centre — the central portal for university applications) and all documents by the early consideration deadline of March 1st. Selection is automatic based on the admission average calculated by Western University's Admissions office. For those not in a Canadian curriculum, the school considers your specific curriculum, grading practices, and scale. Note that the Don Wright Faculty of Music selects the recipients for students applying to music programs. The money is applied directly to your fee account before the first installment of fees is due. If the scholarship creates a credit on your account, you will receive a refund via direct deposit to your bank in December. Ask Western University during your application if you have specific questions about the payment timing. To keep this scholarship, you must register full-time (which requires a minimum of 3.5 courses) at the main campus and meet the terms in your offer of admission. You must also accept your offer by the response deadline. If you choose not to pursue a study abroad experience, you forfeit the $2,000 study abroad portion of the funding.

Who qualifies

You must be applying for admission directly from secondary school to an undergraduate program at Western University's main campus. Generally, you are not eligible if you have previously attended a post-secondary institution or if you are a home-schooled applicant. You need a top high school admission average. If you are from an International or Out of Province location, you may also be eligible for a $2,000 Travel Grant. You cannot combine this with another admission scholarship, nor are you eligible if you receive a National Scholarship, Schulich Leader Scholarship, Continue in Canada Admission Scholarship, or the Welcome to Canada Admission Scholarship.
