About this award

You can receive up to $2,000 to help cover your tuition costs. This is a grant, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a woman student pursuing a career in the building and manufacturing trades. You must apply by June 7, 2027. When you apply, ask NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, phone, or through the portal. NAIT's official page says how this award is decided (see Who qualifies). Ask NAIT how many students usually qualify, so you can judge your odds. Ask NAIT during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with NAIT whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be a woman student enrolled in one of the federally recognized Building and Manufacturing Red Seal Skilled Trade programs (national standards for trade certification) or designated pre-apprenticeship programs.

This is what the award's official page said when we last checked. Rules change, so confirm on the award's official page before you apply.

  • Open to trades students
  • Studying Building and Manufacturing Red Seal Skilled Trade programs or designated pre apprenticeship programs

  • ExpensesAvoid submitting vague summaries of your costs. Instead, provide clear images of your receipts and proof of expenses. Upload high-quality photos of every eligible tuition expense you claim.
  • StrategyAvoid waiting until the last minute to gather your paperwork. Instead, organize your tuition receipts in a digital folder now. This ensures you can upload everything quickly to the NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) portal.
  • RealismAvoid assuming this grant covers all your living costs. Instead, remember that this funding is specifically awarded based on the costs you incur for tuition. Plan your other budget items separately from this award.
