Depending on your average in your top six (6) Grade 12 U (University level) or M (Mixed level) courses, you receive a set amount each year for up to four years: $750 a year ($3,000 in total) for 80.0% to 84.9%, $1,250 a year ($5,000) for 85.0% to 89.9%, $2,500 a year ($10,000) for 90.0% to 94.9%, and $4,000 a year ($16,000) for 95% and up. If you get a $4,000 offer in the March or May round and keep at least a 95% average in your top six final marks, it becomes free tuition (tuition only; you still pay compulsory ancillary fees). This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. If you receive the $4,000 or free tuition award, you can renew it each year by maintaining a 90% average. If your university average later falls between 80.0% and 89.9%, you will receive an amended scholarship of $2,500 per year for the rest of the term, provided you maintain an 80% average. This is for you if you are a high-achieving student transitioning directly from a Canadian high school to university. There is no single application deadline because Lakehead University calculates averages three times a year in March, May, and July. If you are from a different province, you must send your transcripts to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by February for March calculations, by April for May calculations, or by July for July calculations. You will receive your offer based on the best value from any of these three rounds. These scholarships are automatically awarded based on your academic marks, so there is no formal application process or committee review. The number of scholarships is unlimited, so every student who reaches an average band receives that award. Ask Lakehead University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. To keep your funding, you must maintain a normal full course load each year. Depending on your specific offer, you must maintain a minimum 80% or 90% average in each academic year as detailed in your Scholarship Offer. Check your individual offer letter to confirm the exact percentage you need to keep your money.
You must be a Canadian student entering Lakehead University directly from a recognized Canadian high school curriculum. If you are a Canadian student studying outside of a provincial high school, the university will consider you on an individual basis.
