About this award

You can receive approximately $3,500 from this scholarship. As a scholarship, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a graduate researcher from a rural Saskatchewan community who is dedicated to advancing medical or scientific knowledge. You must apply by November 2, 2026. When you apply, ask University of Saskatchewan how and when you'll hear back — whether it is by email, the portal, or phone. Ask University of Saskatchewan how many students usually apply, so you can judge your odds. Ask University of Saskatchewan during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with University of Saskatchewan whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Tips for applying

  • Research ProposalAvoid writing a generic overview of your field. Instead, provide a precise one-page outline of your specific thesis or project topic. Clearly define the area of major research you intend to pursue.
  • SupportAvoid providing only a name for your reference. Instead, ensure you have the correct name and email address for your supervisor. They must be able to attest to the quality and importance of your research.
  • StrategyAvoid omitting your high school details. Instead, explicitly state where you graduated from to prove you meet the rural Saskatchewan requirement. Double-check that your school falls within the Prairie South School Division or meets the population limit.
  • RealismAvoid assuming the approximate value is guaranteed. Instead, confirm the final award amount with University of Saskatchewan. Since this is a specialized award for a specific geographic group, your odds depend heavily on your high school location.
