About this award

Every domestic student admitted to start in May 2027 receives an Entrance Scholarship between $1,000 and $7,500, awarded for achievement in academic excellence, co-op or internship experience, and community engagement and social impact. Domestic students receiving government assistance funding are also automatically considered for a Financial Needs Scholarship to help cover unmet financial need. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you are a domestic student (a Canadian citizen or permanent resident) who has finished, or is finishing, a four-year degree specializing in accounting or finance and wants to start the MAccFin in May 2027. There is no separate scholarship application: you are considered when you apply to the program through the School of Graduate Studies application (admissions.sgs.utoronto.ca/apply). For in-Canada applicants the early deadline (September 15, 2026) has passed; the second deadline is October 31, 2026 and the final deadline is February 28, 2027. Out-of-Canada applicants have October 31, 2026 and January 8, 2027. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, and the program says there is no advantage to delaying. Every admitted domestic student receives the scholarship; the amount depends on your achievement in those three areas. The program aims for a cohort of fewer than 50 students. Ask University of Toronto during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with University of Toronto whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

To qualify, you must be a domestic student admitted to start the program in May 2027. You need a four-year undergraduate degree with a specialization in Accounting or Finance or equivalent. You must have earned a minimum of B (or 73%) in your final year of study.
