About this award

You receive a one-time payment of $10,000 in your first year of studies. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. Because it is non-renewable, you will not receive this funding in subsequent years. This is for you if you are an outstanding secondary school student—either from Canada or abroad—who is applying for admission to a direct-entry undergraduate program. You are automatically considered for this award based on your average at the time of admission, so there is no separate application deadline. When you apply for admission, ask the University of Toronto how and when you will be notified of an award offer. Winners are chosen automatically by the University of Toronto based on academic averages. There are approximately 900 admission awards available. The money is credited to your fees account after you register in September. Once the university deducts any outstanding fees, you will receive the remaining balance via direct deposit. Make sure your banking information is updated in your ACORN (the University of Toronto's online student system) account so your payment is not delayed. To keep the award, you must be registered full-time for both the fall and winter sessions in September. Since this is a non-renewable award, there are no GPA or progress requirements to maintain for future years.

Who qualifies

You must be a domestic or international secondary school student applying to the first year of direct-entry undergraduate studies. You are eligible if you have not previously attended any post-secondary institution. Note that the scholarship offer is specific to the division, college, or faculty that admits you.
