About this award

You can receive between $5,000 and $6,000 CAD for your first year. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. If you maintain the required grades, the award is renewable at these same amounts in your upper years. Specifically, if you have an admission average of 95-100% and maintain a GPA (Grade Point Average — a measure of your overall academic performance) of 10.5, you get $6,000 per year for a total of $24,000 CAD. If your admission average is below 95% and you maintain a GPA of 7.0, you get $5,000 per year for a total of $20,000 CAD. This is for you if you are an international student starting your undergraduate studies at Wilfrid Laurier University. There is no separate application or deadline for this scholarship: every applicant to Laurier is assessed automatically. You are automatically assessed for this award based on your final high school admission average. There is no separate application to fill out, so the university handles the selection internally. Ask Wilfrid Laurier University during your application how the money will reach you — some awards pay students directly, others apply funds to tuition. Confirm this so you can plan your cash flow. To keep this money in your upper years, you must maintain the required GPA. If you received the President’s Gold Scholarship ($6,000) in your first year but your grades drop, you may still be eligible for the $5,000 CAD in-course scholarship.
