About this award

You get $4,000 if you are a domestic student or $6,000 if you are an international student for your first year. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. If you maintain the required grades, you can receive this same amount ($4,000 domestic / $6,000 international) every year for four years, or up to five years if you are in an approved double-degree program. This is for you if you are a high-achieving student entering university with a very strong academic record. No application deadline is posted publicly because you are automatically assessed for this award based on your final grades as of July 2027. Since there is no application form, Laurier lists the entrance scholarship you receive, and the conditions you need to meet, on your offer letter. Every eligible student whose final admission average is 95% or higher as of July 2027 receives it; it is not a competition. The money is applied directly to your student account. You must be registered in courses and have a tuition charge showing on your Wilfrid Laurier University account to receive the funds. The amount is split between your first two terms of study. To keep this scholarship in your upper years, you must achieve an annual GPA (Grade Point Average — a number that represents your average grade) of 10.5 or higher. You also need to complete a minimum of 5.0 full credits during the past academic year. Confirm with Wilfrid Laurier University if there are other specific requirements to maintain your funding.

Who qualifies

You qualify if you are attending postsecondary for the first time (fewer than 4.0 university credits attempted, or less than one year of full-time college) and have an entrance average of 95% or higher as of July 2027. To receive the full amount, you must be registered full time, which means taking a minimum of 2.0 credits per term. You must also be registered in two terms during your first academic year. Note that if you receive this scholarship, you are not eligible for other in-course scholarships at the university.
