Depending on your average, you can receive a total scholarship potential of more than $18,000 over four years. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. Specifically, students with a 95%+ average get $18,118 ($6,241 for first-year full tuition plus $4,000 for the next 3 years). Those with 90% to 94.9% get $12,000 ($3,000 x 4 years), while 85% to 89.9% earns $8,000 ($2,000 x 4 years), and 80% to 84.9% earns $6,000 ($1,500 x 4 years). This is for you if you are a high-achieving Canadian student moving from high school or a qualifying college or university program into your first year at Trent. Winners are chosen automatically based on your final admission average. There is no separate application form to fill out; the university verifies your grades during the admissions process to determine your award level. Final scholarship amounts are communicated to you by the Financial Aid office. Trent's scholarships are used towards the payment of tuition and fees. The full-tuition award covers tuition only, up to the rate for a Bachelor of Arts and Science program (Trent lists $6,118 for 2025/26); if your program's tuition is higher, you pay the difference, and student levies, ancillary fees and housing are not covered. To keep this scholarship, you must maintain a minimum 80% average in a full course load during the previous academic year. You also need to complete 5.0 Trent credits, or 3.0 Trent credits if you have a reduced course load as an accommodation from SAS (Student Accessibility Services—the office that provides learning supports). Confirm with Trent University if these conditions change for your specific program.
You qualify if you are a Canadian student with a final admission average of 80% or higher. This includes students entering their first year from a Canadian secondary school or transfer students who have completed at least two full-time semesters at an accredited Canadian university or college diploma program. If you are in a college certificate program, you only qualify if a special agreement exists between that school and Trent. You are not eligible if you are a part-time student, a non-degree seeking student, a BED (Bachelor of Education) student, or a mature student who has been out of high school for more than 2 years. Home-schooled students may qualify if they have objective, third-party grades such as 4U/4M, AP (Advanced Placement), or IB (International Baccalaureate) marks, or a translated SAT score.
