About this award

You can receive a $1,000 Skills Competition Scholarship for your robotics achievements. If you register in the Faculty of Science, Engineering, or Business, you may be considered for an additional $1,000 scholarship. Furthermore, students entering Computer Science can apply for another additional $1,000 scholarship. This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you have competed in robotics challenges and want to bring those technical skills to your university studies. You must apply by April 30. Since the University of Windsor does not publish a specific notification date, ask them when and how you will hear back—whether by email, phone, or the student portal. Selection is based on terms and conditions specific to each award. Ask the University of Windsor roughly how many students receive it so you can judge your odds. The money is applied directly to your tuition account in the fall term. To get the funds, you must confirm the scholarship by completing the registration form and registering as a full-time student. Renewal conditions aren't listed—if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with University of Windsor whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.

Who qualifies

You must be entering the University of Windsor directly from full-time secondary school studies into a first-year undergraduate program. To qualify for the robotics awards, you must be currently in Grade 12 and have participated in the FIRST Robotics - Windsor Essex Great Lakes District Event or any FIRST Robotics event held anywhere in the world. This participation could have happened anytime between grades 9 and 12. If you have a permanent disability, you are considered a full-time student for this scholarship as long as you are registered in at least a 40% course load.
