Depending on your final admission average, you can receive one of these amounts: $3,500 for 95%+ (42-45 IB diploma points), $2,000 for 90-94.9% (36-41 IB diploma points), $1,500 for 85-89.9% (33-35 IB diploma points), or $1,000 for 80-84.9% (30-32 IB diploma points). This is a scholarship, not a loan, so you do not have to pay it back. It is renewable at all tiers if you meet the grade and credit requirements. This is for you if you are a Canadian high school student moving directly into an undergraduate degree and have a strong academic record. No separate application is required for this specific scholarship as you are automatically considered. However, you will be notified by email or letter if you are selected, and decisions are generally communicated by email between May and June. Selection is automatic based on your final grades and admission average. Because it is an automatic award, York University does not publish the number of recipients or the specific competitiveness of each tier—ask the admissions office for more details on how many students typically receive these amounts. The money is applied directly to your York Student Account and will be reflected on your August statement. To keep this scholarship in future years, you must maintain a minimum 8.0 Grade Point Average (GPA — a numerical representation of your average grade) over a minimum of 24 credits taken during the entire academic year, including previous Summer and Fall/Winter sessions.
You must be a Canadian high school applicant entering a direct-entry undergraduate program. To qualify as a high school applicant, you must be less than 21 years old by December 31 of the calendar year in which you are admitted. You must also have been out of full-time high school studies for less than two years from your graduation date and must not have attempted studies at an accredited college or university.
