About this award

You get $1,000 for this award. As a scholarship, this money is yours to keep — there is nothing to repay. You can hold it together with any other University of Manitoba Entrance Scholarship. This is for you if you are recognized by your high school as the best "all-around" student in your graduating class. Your high school must submit the nomination form by June 30th. If you are nominated, you will receive your award letter in late June or early July. Winners are chosen by each high school based on criteria the school establishes. Since the school handles the selection, ask your guidance counselor how they choose the recipient and how many students they nominate. The money is deposited directly into your tuition fee account at the end of August. If the award covers more than your Fall Term tuition, the extra money goes toward your Winter term tuition to reduce what you owe in early January. To keep the money, you must be registered in both Fall and Winter Terms with at least an 80% course load (which is the equivalent of 24 credit hours). Renewal conditions aren't listed — if you're counting on this for multiple years, confirm with University of Manitoba whether it's one-time or renewable and what you need to maintain.
