About this award

You can receive a one-time scholarship valued at $1,250. This award is available each year beginning in 2025-2026 and ending in 2030-2031. As a scholarship, this money is yours to keep and you do not have to pay it back. This is for you if you identify as Eritrean or Ethiopian and are pursuing your studies at the University of Manitoba. You must apply by October 1, 2026, through the Financial Aid and Awards card in Aurora (the University of Manitoba's student system). When you apply, ask how and when you'll hear back. Only one scholarship is given each year. You must meet the grade and enrolment rules below, and preference will be given to a student who demonstrates a commitment to supporting the Eritrean or Ethiopian community through participation in activities on campus or in the community. Who qualifies

You must identify as Eritrean or Ethiopian and be enrolled at the University of Manitoba. If you are an undergraduate student, you must be enrolled full-time (minimum 80% course load) in any year of study in any faculty, college, or school at the University of Manitoba with a minimum degree grade point average (GPA) of 3.0. If you are a graduate student, you must be enrolled full-time in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in any year of study in any master’s or doctoral program at the University of Manitoba with a minimum GPA of 3.0 based on the last 60 credit hours (or equivalent) of study. Preference will be given to a student who demonstrates a commitment to supporting the Eritrean or Ethiopian community through participation in activities on campus or in the community.
